A
new wave of dance/pop music is making its mark on audiences around the
world. Jana is destined to be one of the stars of this unstoppable force.
With the sexual strength of a young Cher, the youthful spirit of Brittany
Spears, and a style uniquely her own, Jana brings dance/pop to the next
level. Keep your eyes and ears open. As this new wave of music washes over
all of us, Jana will be right in front, leading the way.
Jana is not your
ordinary recording artist. At age 22, Jana has a striking look and a
powerful voice. Her vibrant style, coupled with pulsating dance rhythms,
creates a fresh, new sound. Her music invites you to listen and forces you
to move.
In a small city outside
Charlotte, NC where she was born, Jana was discovered by Grammy nominated
producer/songwriter Rodney Shelton while singing funk music with her
weekend band, Peace 'N' Love. But this was not her introduction to
singing- throughout high school and during college, Jana sang in the
choir. She was a natural, and people noticed.
Rodney
recorded a demo of Jana singing What Am I to You, and knew he could get
her attention from major record labels. Having only heard that one song,
Mike Curb immediately signed Jana to an album deal at Curb Records. That
single shot up the charts on Radio & Records' Top 40 R&B chart. As
a follow-up, Jana's second single, Near Me, a Sheryl Crow composition
produced by Brad Gilderman and Harvey Mason, also enjoyed chart success
and great reviews. Now, Curb Records is proud to release Jana's third
single, Ohh, Baby, Baby- from her forthcoming studio album.
Perhaps Jana's exotic
style is due to the influence of her Native American tribe east of the
Mississippi. Though she lived a relatively "average American like:
growing up in the suburbs and studying tap, ballet, and piano, Jana has
always been involved in the Lumbee Culture. Attending Pow Wows with member
of her tribe, Jana has been influenced by many aspects of their rituals,
incorporating them into her musical persona. "There are some Native
American elements in my music," says Jana. "It's part of me. I
don't sing Native American Music, but the flavor is there. There are also
certain steps that I use in my act that people would watch and say 'okay,
that's a little different." Jana adds, "But I'm not doing a
American Indian Dance. Its just part of me."
Jana is a rising star,
exposing her own magic through her music. She is young, energetic, fresh,
and more. You can expect to hear a lot more from Jana.
And
you will. |
