Deborah Harry’s career has consistently embodied the unique, the innovative and the unusual, exploiting her gift for live performance to the full. In addition to an on-going solo career, she has appeared in such intriguing guises as performance artist, poet and actress. 

As lead singer/songwriter for the band Blondie, Deborah Harry spawned a steady stream of worldwide top 10 hits including “Heart of Glass”, “Call Me”, “The Tide Is High”, “Dreaming”, “Atomic” and “One Way or Another”. She is also credited as being the first artist to bring rap music into the mainstream with Blondie’s #1 hit “Rapture”. Deborah has continued that tradition with an ongoing solo career that includes the hits “In Love With Love”, “French Kissing in the USA”(1986), the platinum selling single “I Want That Man”(5ire1989) and the #1 dance hit “I Can See Clearly”(Sire 1993). 

Currently writing and rehearsing with her new band, which features longtime Blondie writing partner Chris Stein and Joe McGinty (Keyboardist formerly of the Psychedelic Furs), much of the time since her 1993 release Debravation has been spent collaborating with an array of artists including the Jazz Passengers, Los Fabulosos Cadillacs and Talking Heads. 

Since recording lead vocals for the track “Dog and Sand” on the Jazz Passengers’ album In Love (Windham Hill, 1994) produced by Hal Wilner, Deborah has performed guest vocals for the Jazz Passengers on their U.S. / Canadian / European tours throughout 1994 and 1995. This foray into jazz is expected to continue as further shows are planned for 1996. 

Other vocal appearances include a duet with internationally acclaimed Los Fabulosos Cadillacs (Sony Latin, 1995). The single, a cover of the Beatles’ “Strawberry Fields”, is accompanied by a video directed by MTV award-winning director Pucho. Produced by Talking Heads’ Chris Frantz and Tina Weymouth, the album has already attained platinum status in the band’s native Argentina In addition, she again collaborated with members of Talking Heads (Chris, Tina & Jerry Harrison) on the lead track for Paramount’s Virtuosity film soundtrack (Radioactive Records, 1995). 

Deborah has continued to support a number of charitable causes by performing at benefits, recently including a headlining appearance at the Summer 1995 1st Annual Boston to New York AIDS Ride and co-headlining with Etta James at the Chicken Soup Brigade dance-a-thon in Seattle.
